Have you ever felt defeated, overwhelmed, unable or frustrated with a lack in progressing toward your goals? Are you discouraged or wonder how you are going to accomplish the task in front of you?

Maybe you are starting a new job, beginning a new business or non-profit, changing careers, taking an exam, starting college or just trying to figure out what to do next. Regardless of the situation, fear will try to function as an inhibitor by providing hindering thoughts, bad memories, or visual challenges that you cannot do it.

There are at least four things that tend to keep people from pursuing their goals.

• First, not knowing what to pursue. Some people encounter the challenge of needing guidance on what to focus their attention in the midst of various options. Others want to know exactly what to pursue when they have no idea where to start.

• Second, needing money. Many need finances to take care of both their personal lives and making the endeavor sustainable or paying for what it takes to achieve the goal.

• Third, fear of the unknown. Not knowing what to do next or lacking confidence to proceed keeps many from starting or pressing forward.

• Fourth, obstacles that throws a curve ball in your path. Obstacles can attempt to stop, hinder, or delay one from moving forward.

When one, some or all of these roadblocks attempt to dissuade you from moving forward, the temptation comes to keep you limited to your personal abilities (or lack thereof). Many settle for mediocrity and do not think outside the box. Branching out, thinking creatively, and implementing a dream may seem too hard and fear undoubtedly creeps inside to snuff out the spark of a dream.

Lastly, there must remain an inward resolve to persevere, a fight on the inside to not give up in the midst of challenging circumstances. Remember that your calling is from God and as you wait on Him in prayer, He will help, strengthen, and guide you to pursue and accomplish His purpose for your life:

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:28-32.

Keep going, stay focused, and don’t give up!
